Google's streaming devices run Google TV, which means you get the full Google Play Store and the best Android IPTV apps. That makes Google TV IPTV setup one of the easiest there is, and a great way to upgrade an older TV. It works the same on the Chromecast with Google TV and its replacement, the Google TV Streamer.

01Google TV IPTV setup, step by step

1. From the home screen, go to Apps and open the Google Play Store.
2. Search for TiviMate (best for live TV and sport) or IPTV Smarters Pro (best for films and series) and install it.
3. Open the app, add a playlist and choose Xtream Codes, then enter your server, username and password.
4. Let the channels and TV guide load, then mark your favourites.

02What about older Chromecasts?

Older Chromecasts without a remote (the "puck" models) can't install apps. You can only cast from a phone app that supports casting, which is less reliable for live TV. If you have one, a Chromecast with Google TV, Google TV Streamer or Fire TV Stick is a worthwhile upgrade.
