Best Streaming Services 2026 UK: Prices and Comparison Chart

Netflix raised its UK prices again in September 2026, HBO Max has arrived with TNT Sports inside it, and BritBox has been folded into ITVX. If you're trying to work out which streaming services are worth paying for in the UK, this guide puts every main service side by side in pounds: what each plan costs, what it's best at, which ones show live TV, and how to pay less.

Service by service

Netflix is still the default choice, with the largest catalogue of series, films and documentaries in the UK and a steady stream of originals. In September 2026 it raised prices: Standard with adverts went from £5.99 to £7.99, Standard to £13.99 and Premium (4K, four screens) to £20.99. Adding an extra member outside your home costs £5.99.

Disney+ combines Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic with Star's adult series and films. From £5.99 with adverts, it's the obvious pick for households with children.

Amazon Prime Video is included with Amazon Prime (£8.99 a month or £95 a year), which also covers free delivery. Prime Video shows adverts by default; removing them costs £2.99 a month. Through Prime Video Channels you can add other services to the same account and bill.

HBO Max brings HBO's drama library, Warner Bros. films and, since March 2026, TNT Sports as an add-on. Plans run from £4.99 with adverts to £14.99 for Premium. See our TNT Sports guide for the sport prices.

Apple TV (formerly Apple TV+) has a smaller catalogue but a high hit rate for originals, for £9.99 a month. It's also included in Apple One bundles.

Paramount+ offers Paramount films and US series from around £5.99 with adverts; it's also available through Prime Video Channels and Sky.

NOW streams Sky's channels without a contract or dish: the Entertainment membership includes Sky Atlantic and Sky originals, and the Boost add-on adds Full HD and ad-free on demand. NOW Sports and Cinema are separate memberships.

ITVX is free with adverts; ITVX Premium (£5.99) removes most adverts and now includes the BritBox archive, after the standalone BritBox UK service closed.

Which service is right for you?

• You only want one service: Netflix, for the widest range of series, films and documentaries.
• You have children: Disney+, ideally on the ad-supported plan if they watch on a shared TV.
• You already shop on Amazon: Prime Video is effectively included in what you pay for delivery.
• You love big drama series: HBO Max, plus NOW Entertainment for Sky Atlantic.
• You mostly watch UK channels: the free apps (iPlayer, ITVX, Channel 4, 5) and Freely, with ITVX Premium if adverts bother you.
• You want sport: none of the general services is enough on its own; see the sport guides below.

Streaming services with live TV

For live channels over the internet, the free broadcaster apps and Freely cover the main UK channels; NOW and Sky Stream add Sky's channels without a satellite dish.

Remember that you need a TV licence to watch any channel live as it's broadcast, on any device, and to use BBC iPlayer at all.

What it costs to have everything

Paying for the ad-free standard plan of every major service costs around £77 a month; with the TV licence it's about £92. That's Netflix (£13.99), Disney+ (£9.99), Prime Video (£8.99), HBO Max (£9.99), Apple TV (£9.99), Paramount+ (about £9.99), NOW Entertainment (about £7.99) and ITVX Premium (£5.99), plus about £15 a month for the licence. Choosing the ad-supported plans of the five biggest services instead (Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, HBO Max and Paramount+) brings the total down to around £34.

Five ways to pay less for streaming

1. Rotate services: keep one or two at a time, watch what you want, cancel, and move to the next. All the main services let you cancel monthly.
2. Accept adverts: ad tiers cost £4–6 less per service per month.
3. Pay yearly: Amazon Prime at £95 a year saves about £13 compared with monthly billing; others offer annual plans too.
4. Bundle: Apple One, Sky Stream with Netflix, broadband deals and Prime Video Channels can combine several services on one bill.
5. Use the free apps: iPlayer, ITVX, Channel 4, 5 and Freely cover a lot of UK TV for no extra cost beyond the licence.
